There’s been a shift in the #MentorMonday house!
Due to our esteemed host’s duties on the BET Let’s Stay Together Tour, our previously scheduled guest, Ms. Ava DuVernay, will not be joining us this Monday.
The show does go on! We will be welcoming with open arms two women who not only inspired Black Girls to move, but inspired a movement as well. (If you don’t know what that means see what BlackAndMarriedWithKids.com’s Ronnie and Lamar Tyler had to say about it in the last #MentorMonday.)
Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks, founders of Black Girls RUN!, wanted to solve a problem in the African-American community. And so they did; creating 60 groups for 62,000 women who want to run. Novice runners and veterans alike have joined the ranks of BlackGirlsRun.com and are getting it in along with their sisters in an effort to combat obesity and a sedentary lifestyle.
But how did Toni and Ashley “run” their blog such that it became their business? That’s where #MentorMonday picks up the story.
Mark your calendars because it is going down on March 17th at the NEW TIME, 9PM ET.
Catch us if you can! Click to RSVP.
…in my place is a good friend and also a mentor of mine – Torrey McGraw! Torrey is THE PERSON who most encouraged me to launch #MentorMonday and so it’s my honor to turn over the mic to him on the 17th!
An interview with Torrey (@TorreyMcGraw) and Paul from back in the day can be found here.
